TV Producer Cover Letter

Describe yourself as a professional television producer. You know all aspects of TV production. This role requires an understanding of the technical production process, an ability of storytelling, and knowledge of human psychology. Prove to the employer your ability to work hard in production audio and videography, developing design and conception, budgeting, and training a team.

Don’t use overly flattering language when describing yourself. Speak about your accomplishments and results but avoid using adjectives to describe yourself that come across as arrogant or conceited.

You will not only need to produce TV programs or movies but also organize the work of the studio. You must be an excellent negotiator and a good delegator of tasks. The employer will want to know that you can collaborate with colleagues, train staff, and monitor the work of production teams. Mention your strong leadership and communication skills.

Don’t include salary requirements or expectations about the position unless asked to do so by the employer. A good rule is to always let the employer mention money first, if possible. It’s important to demonstrate your interest in the position, but never make it seem like money is your primary motivation. The employer needs to feel like the success of the company is just as much your goal as it is theirs.

Include statistics. How many TV shows have you produced? How much did you increase ratings? How often do you stay under budget? You get the idea. A lack of specific information leaves the employer questioning just how impactful you really were. In order to truly make your cover letter stand out, you should not just say how you can be an asset but actually prove it by using data to back it up.
